Gorgeous gastronomy, stunning scenery and luxury suites – Jill Nash explores Corfu’s newly renovated property MarBella.
STAY
Perched next to the Ionian Sea, MarBella Corfu is the epitome of luxury for families, couples and honeymooners. The property, which sits on Agios Ioannis Peristeron beach, boasts a host of Mediterranean rooms and suites, which cling to the hillside and offer unspoilt views of the glittering sea and private beach below. One of the standout features is the setting; lush landscaped gardens, little walkways to the beach – it feels like a perfect little Greek paradise.
There are plenty of accommodation options for different budgets. The superior family rooms are particularly good value for money. The spacious bedroom and sitting area, with the two single sofa beds separated by sliding doors, give families the opportunity to enjoy some time on their own, while the nice terrace or balcony with table and chairs provides a space to enjoy the views. If your budget allows, it is worth considering an upgrade to a junior suite, complete with your own pool and a bit of extra space, both on the terrace and in the room.
The private beach is small and not overcrowded, ideal for young children and couples. This exclusive retreat works for so many; providing total isolation for those who want to get away from it all, yet only a few hours flying time from the UK. marbella.gr
DINE
MarBella Corfu offers a great selection of packages, ranging from half board to all-inclusive deals. All guests are offered bed and breakfast, but can upgrade to full board during their stay. There is a magnificent choice of 10 dining areas, each offering healthy choices for lunch or dinner and a series of themed nights and spectacular events organised by the hotel. There is even a little American diner, designed for children and located conveniently next to the splash pool area.
La Terazza is the favourite for casual all-day dining. Guests are invited to savour a healthy breakfast, a delicious lunch of international and Greek specialties, or a delightful dinner in a cosy setting. Twice a week, themed nights add some extra flavour to the appetising menus. During the height of the summer, many sit close to the sea and dine at La Bussola, where they can enjoy an à la carte menu that’s deliciously designed to appeal to gourmet lovers. As night falls, Eleonas bar is the perfect place for guests to enjoy a relaxing evening in the pool and get their groove on with live music and cocktails.

EXPLORE
MarBella offers plenty to keep everyone amused, and impressive on-site facilities include sea kayaking, paddleboarding and a private PADI dive centre. There’s a variety of activities for children too, from cooking classes to ping-pong. For adults wanting some ‘me time’, there is an excellent kids club – run by efficient English-speaking staff and caring for babies through to teens.
In addition to tennis and mini soccer courts, more daring individuals can decamp to boot camp or take part in the In-Trinity fitness programme, water skiing, wakeboarding and various other extreme sports.
Those seeking a more laidback experience are welcome to ride a bike or attend a yoga, Pilates or stretch aerobics class. Alternatively, there’s a chance to fully relax in the spa or by the pool, enjoying splendid views of the sea.
There is also Aqua Baby, Dance Academy, Mini Football Academy, Teens Club and a crèche. Add live theatre, cabaret, beach parties and mini discos to the mix, and it’s little wonder this luxury resort is regarded as one of the most favourable on the Greek islands.
The resort does offer opportunities to explore Corfu’s luscious landscape. Travellers are welcome to set off on a hiking tour and discover the beautiful landscapes through the paths of nature. Due to the complex terrain of Corfu, mountain biking is an experience that should not be missed; combining physical exercise with mental stimulation.
