The rain clouds parted as we sat down at our plush window seat in the Hilton’s Cloud 23 Bar, giving us a spectacular clear view across the city of Manchester.
The Bubble & Berries Afternoon Tea, priced at £35, wasn’t just a treat for the tummy, but for the eyes as well.
Piled high on autumnally decorated trays and boards, were a selection of wonderful jellies, bagels, cakes and scones. Beetroot cured salmon bagels topped with cream cheese, caviar blinis with pomegranate pearls, ham and redcurrant croque monsieur, and butternut squash and manchego cheese quiches, were followed by classic scones with raspberry jam and Kir Royale clotted cream, freeze dried chocolate dipped strawberries, berry frangipane slices, Bellini curd tarts, and pink champagne and blueberry jelly shots. All complimented by a selection of teas and a glass of fizz.
A surprise complimentary vodka, cranberry and freshly squeezed lime cocktail, served over crushed ice, complete with edible flower, perfected a truly lovely afternoon tea experience.
