With baby number three soon arriving in the Royal household, Wills & Kate will be busy picking out new nursery décor, baby bedding and colour schemes for the next little prince or princess.

Here’s a selection of what Jane Robson, founder of The Fine Cotton Company, thinks would appeal to Kate’s classic sense of style, chosen from the online boutique’s latest homeware collections.

Opt for Organic – Kate loves everything organic

Kate is a champion of organic living and is even said to be planning to launch her own range of organic food this year.

“So, when it comes to children’s bedding, we think organic fabrics will be high on the shopping list. Why? Organic cotton is kind to skin, it’s breathable and much healthier for little ones.”

More advice on choosing organic fabrics

“Babies sleep for around 70% of the time so their sleeping environment should be as free from chemical irritants as possible. Commercially grown cotton is sprayed with pesticides and chemical fertilisers that can work their way into the cotton fibres and remain there even after washing. Certified by GOTS, the Global Organic Textile Standard, organic cotton is grown under strict guidelines without the use of harmful chemicals or pesticides. In addition, organic cotton is extremely washable. Organic cotton fibres are more durable and long-lasting because they’re allowed to reach their full growth before they’re harvested so it can be washed very regularly at high temperatures, without losing its quality. Similarly, colours won’t fade and will last for years.”

Home or away – blankets are the perfect travel companion for busy royal babies and ‘leaving hospital’ photo opportunities

“Tiny babies can’t have duvets or anything bulky, but it’s also important for them not to get too hot or too cold. Layering up blankets is the best solution to control temperature easily without disturbing their sleep. Our super soft Hampton shawls and blankets are made from beautiful quality organic cotton fleece and they’re very traditional so will appeal to Kate’s love of classic designs. Ideal for wrapping up new babies, they’re also great for layering up as they come in a choice of seven colours.  Plus, they can be personalised so they’re a gorgeous gift for new mums. With larger sizes available they can also be on hand to keep mum or dad warm during night feeds.”

Bedding as stylish as Kate’s wardrobe

“The Duchess of Cambridge’s style is very chic and she’s always well turned out, which, in a child’s room translates as understated bedding made with high-quality fabric that’s exquisitely finished.

The Fine Cotton Company’s ‘London’ organic cotton linen bedding range is very patriotic for little Royals! Alternatively, our stars bedding ranges will see little princes or princesses right through to their teenage years.”

Robes (and matching towels) just like Prince George’s

Every new baby needs plenty of soft towels and a snuggly bathrobe for those daily bath times. These coordinating robes and towels are just like big brother Prince George sported when he was snapped with Barack Obama.  The 100% cotton makes them extremely durable, even with regular washing and they can be personalised.
