Environmentally friendly ‘virtual’ balloons are launching from Lapland to raise vital funds for children with disabilities

A week-long ‘festive’ virtual balloon race, launching from Santa’s village in Lapland, will take place from Friday 10 December to raise vital funds for Brainwave, who help disabled children reach their potential through a range of specialist therapies.

Balloons can be purchased for just £5, with prizes including a family weekend break to Camel Creek in Cornwall , 6-person Regatta tent, and family day tickets to Butlins.

Balloons can also be purchased and gifted to friends, family, or colleagues – making a great alternative to Christmas cards or Secret Santa gifts. The race is computer-simulated where the software uses real live weather data to determine the progress of each balloon and each entry can be tracked once launched.

Participants can customise their balloon’s design along with its helium content and rubber thickness, to enhance their chances of winning, depending on the predicted weather forecast on its journey.

The charity’s Chief Executive, Keith Sinclair, said: “We are pleased to be running this popular and innovative event again. Our Virtual Balloon Race is a fun, eco-friendly way of supporting our charity this Christmas and there are some fantastic prizes up for grabs.

“Brainwave is an independent UK charity and we do not receive any statutory funding. The pandemic has been tough for the families we support and on our finances, as we have had to suspend services, close shops, and cancel or postpone many fundraising events.

“We are hoping our supporters will take part in our Virtual Balloon Race again and help us raise vital funds for our charity. Our Therapy Programmes are life-changing, children who could not move, now walk, who could not make a sound, now giggle and whose attainment at school, is now greatly improved. Thank you to everyone who gets involved, you will be making a massive difference to the lives of the families we support.

“I would also like to thank our three corporate supporters who have made this event possible too.”

The event is being supported by three companies who wanted to help Brainwave put on this innovative and fun event.

Ansa Elevators maintain and install lifts. The Company offers its products and services to residential and commercial customers.

Crime Prevention Services Henry Dannell for offer a 360° in-house service, from bespoke design, installation, maintenance and monitoring and are proud to have held NSI Gold Accreditation over 30 years.

By supporting our Virtual Balloon Race you will help to ensure we can continue transforming the lives of disabled children through delivering bespoke Therapy Programme at its Centres across England and virtually through their Brainwave Online therapy service.
