How Your Partner’s Star Sign May Influence Your Proposal

Is your love written in the stars? Engagement ring specialist F.Hinds surveyed over 2,000 UK adults and found that more than a fifth (21%) of Brits search for specific star signs in potential partners. Millennials are the most in tune with astrology, with almost three in five (59%) believing it affects romance, and almost one in six (14%) narrowing their pool of potential love interests down to compatible star signs. If astrology is an important consideration in your relationship, here are some of the ways you can adapt your proposal to match your partner’s star sign to help it go smoothly.

Compatibility

Whilst the true nature and match of your relationship can only be known by you and your partner, astrologists believe that some star signs can work better with each other than others. For example, if you’re a Virgo, then good potential matches for you include Pisces and Capricorn. As a Sagittarius, you’re better suited to a Gemini or Aries, whereas Aquarius is thought to get on best with Leo and Gemini as romantic partners.

The Ring

One of the most stressful parts of a proposal is making sure you get the right ring for your partner, from size to colour to style. Remember the 4 Cs of engagement ring shopping (colour, clarity, carat, and cut) as well as taking into account their personal taste, style, and their day-to-day life to help you choose the perfect engagement ring.

Earth signs, Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are most likely to prefer a traditional style engagement ring. Meanwhile, Cancer is the sign most linked to nostalgia and history, so opt for a family heirloom or an antique ring with a romantic backstory.

Gemini is associated with communication so you might want to consider a personalised engraving on the inside of the band. Aquarius are a non-traditional bunch so make sure that you get something totally unique for this star sign. For the remaining signs, Aries, Leo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, and Pisces, you can feel free to go for something bold and modern that suits their personality.

Knowing When It’s Time

A successful proposal is dependent on both of you being in the same place in your relationship, so communication about where you see your relationship going and where you both hope to be in the coming years is crucial to ensure that you’re both on the same page.

When it comes to tying the knot and letting their partner know that they’re ready, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, and Capricorn are all willing to be bold and will happily drop hints they want to be proposed to when in a long-term relationship. However, Cancer, Leo, Sagittarius, Aquarius, and Pisces signs are all more subtle so are less likely to speak directly to their partners about proposal plans, meaning you may need to do some sleuthing or take a leap of faith!

Popping the Question

Being dependent on your relationship and your partner’s personality means that every proposal will be different and ideally, unique to who you are as a couple.

If you’re in a relationship with an Aries, Gemini, Leo, or Sagittarius you might want to go big with your proposal plans. Leos in particular are well-known for being competitive and enjoying the spotlight so don’t be afraid to plan a public proposal.

If your partner is an Aquarius sign, you’ll probably already be aware of their dislike of routine or tradition so make sure that your proposal is as unique and different as they are. Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces signs are less likely to be impressed by an OTT proposal, so you might want to opt for something more traditional and intimate when proposing to someone from one of these signs!
