LUXURY SANDY MOUNT HOUSE IS COMING TO RHOSNEIGR

A brand new luxury hotel, bar and restaurant – Sandy Mount House, is coming to the High Street in the centre of Rhosneigr early next year.

The new owners of the existing Sandymount have been granted planning permission to transform the venue into a contemporary hotel, destination bar and restaurant set to be open all year round.

With investment of over £2million, Louise and Philip Goodwin are planning to create a stylish destination for locals and visitors at the ever popular coastal location.

The estimated build time will be approximately 30/40 weeks and the operations team is looking to open the venue to the public in early 2019. The development has also been offered funding from the Micro Small Business Fund (MSBF) through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.

The new business is aiming to create around 50 new jobs for the local area and they plan to be on the lookout for applicants during the early part of summer this year. They are also keen to start dialogues with suppliers of quality local produce to ensure that the food, drink and hospitality on offer truly represents the vast array available on and around Anglesey.

The stylish venue will consist of seven large luxury hotel rooms, all with en-suites. It will also offer a 100+ cover restaurant with a large bar area to serve residents, locals and visitors throughout the year.

The ethos of Sandy Mount House will very much be around relaxed family dining and entertaining. It will be child and dog friendly, offering a homely environment with high quality locally sourced food and great service.  A welcoming place for breakfast before a coastal walk with the family or a few pints after a day kite surfing with friends. There will be outdoor terraces and warm welcoming fires – this is intended to be an all year round venue.

Louise has appointed renowned designer, Michelle Derbyshire, who is well known for her work in city centre Manchester on venues including; Australasia, Artisan and award winning Grand Pacific. Together they will create this wonderful place in Rhosneigr which will, they hope, continue to be the hub of the village whilst also attracting people for miles around.

Louise, Phil and their family have owned a house in Rhosneigr for many years and have enjoyed bringing their young family for holidays and weekends. The long summers by the stunning coast have helped shaped who they are. Their welcoming, open house means they are regularly entertaining extended family and friends – and they have all fallen in love with the location.

On securing the building, the couple set about creating a design for somewhere both locals, day-trippers and holiday makers can all enjoy.  One of the most important factors for them was that people know it is an independent establishment rather than a big chain, thereby retaining the charm and appeal of the area.

Louise recognised the need for a relaxed place with good service right in the heart of the village that would be open all year round and appeal to a wide range of people.

“We are delighted that Louise and her family have chosen to invest in Rhosneigr. Sandy Mount House looks set to be a great addition to the village and will help to increase its popularity as a destination for day trippers and holiday makers. The fact they are committed to being open all year round means that it will also become a hub for the local community. We look forward to the end result and its opening in 2019.” – Councillor Richard Dew

“I for one am thrilled to be seeing Sandy Mount House yet again become part of the local community. It will be a much welcomed addition to the High Street and it sounds like it will be bringing a truly different and attractive element that will attract people throughout out the year. As an independent operator I wish them success.” – Gwyneth Parry, Chair of Rhosneigr Village council

“We are looking forward to getting on site and starting construction later this month. We are passionate about Rhosneigr as it is very close to my family’s heart. We can’t wait to create this welcoming space. We want it to become a central piece of the community and attract more people to the delights of this gorgeous piece of coastline.” – Louise Goodwin, owner of Sandy Mount House
