The three best islands for a Caribbean getaway this summer

Dreaming of the perfect getaway this summer? With spectacular white-sand beaches, blue seas, and a plethora of things to see and do, the Caribbean is the epitome of a bucket list destination. But with so many islands to choose from, how do you know which to choose? Don’t worry, we’ve written this article to help narrow down your options.

1. Antigua

In this article, we’ll unveil the allure of Antigua, the spice-infused charm of Grenada, and the hidden gem of St. Kitts & Nevis – each destination promising unforgettable memories.

If you’re looking for a year-round holiday destination, Antigua should be one of your top choices. It’s a true tropical paradise, home to incredible seafood, great weather year-round, and incredible beaches.

Unlike many other tropical destinations, Antigua has relatively low humidity. It’s also extremely close to the equator, meaning it experiences very little seasonal weather variation. This makes the weather in Antigua more pleasant than in many nearby destinations, throughout most of the year.

As well as great weather, Antigua boasts some of the best beaches in the whole world. Although the claim of a beach for every day isn’t exactly true, you’ll certainly have an abundance of options as far as beaches are concerned.

2. Grenada

This Caribbean Island is home to some of the best snorkelling in the world. Its waters are home to more than one hundred varieties of tropical fish for you to see, as well as magnificent coral reefs and several shipwrecks.

There’s also good news if you’d rather explore the Grenadian Ocean from above. The nation is a chain of several islands, meaning that chartering a yacht to island hop around the Grenadines is one of the best ways to enjoy sailing in the Caribbean.

Grenada is also known as the ‘Spice Isle’, which indicates the calibre of food you can expect to enjoy when you visit. From curried goats to hearty fish stews, the island’s flavourful meals will make you never want to leave.

3. St. Kitts & Nevis

St. Kitts and its sibling island Nevis are widely regarded as the Caribbean’s best-kept secret. Their stunning natural beauty, golf courses, and friendly locals help them stand out from the other islands in the region.

It may be the smallest country in the Caribbean, but St Kitt’s and Nevis offer one of the biggest opportunities to perfect their swing. The Four Seasons course in Charlestown is an oceanfront golfing oasis that’s largely considered one of the best in the Caribbean.

The islands are also famously friendly. The locals are more than happy to share their insider knowledge with tourists. Don’t hesitate to ask for even the smallest things, because Kittitians are always more than happy to help.
