5 Reasons to Plan a Trip to London

London is one of those cities that somehow manages to feel historic and modern at exactly the same time. You can spend the morning exploring centuries-old landmarks like the Tower of London and the afternoon drinking cocktails on a rooftop skyscraper with amazing views over our city.

It is fair to say that there are few other cities that offer the same mix of culture, food, entertainment, shopping, and atmosphere that London does, and below are just a few reasons why you should consider planning a trip there right now.

1. The famous landmarks actually live up to the hype

Some cities build expectations so high that famous attractions end up feeling slightly disappointing in real life. London is not one of them.

Seeing Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, and the Houses of Parliament in person genuinely feels exciting, especially for first-time visitors. Walking along the South Bank near the London Eye gives you some of the best views in the city while passing street performers, cafés, and riverside bars along the way. London somehow makes even ordinary walks feel cinematic.

2. Every area feels different

Camden is cool and lively, Shoreditch is creative and laidback, and Covent Garden is foodie and theatrical. Every neighbourhood in London has its own district feel, so if you are looking to pack as much as you can into your travels, going to London is kind of a cheat’s way of doing it because it feels like you have been to lots of different places when really you have only been to one.

3. The food scene is banging

London’s food scene has really improved in recent years, and it is actually one of the city’s biggest attractions right now. From Michelin-starred restaurants like Evelyn’s Table, where you can get the full fine dining experience, to hidden street food markets where you can get a great burger or delicious noodles, to Borough Market, where you will find amazing fresh produce, there really is something for everyone. You can even eat a great Indian in Chelsea if you visit the Kahani restaurant because, of course, London really is a rich multi-cultural city and it has the food to match.

4. There is always something to do

One reason London works so well for weekend trips is that boredom is basically impossible.

You can:

  • Visit world-famous museums
  • Watch West End theatre shows
  • Explore markets
  • Go shopping on Oxford Street
  • Take river cruises
  • Visit rooftop bars
  • Discover hidden pubs
  • Explore art galleries

Even rainy weather rarely ruins plans because there are so many indoor attractions throughout the city, which is fortunate, considering British weather occasionally behaves like an emotionally unstable side character in a drama series.

5. The city comes alive at night

One of the best things about visiting London is just how much of a buzz there is in the city when the sun goes down. The theatres come alive with world-class performances, the clubs and cocktail bars, not to mention rooftop lounges and Jazz bars are jumping, and even just a long stroll on th banks of the Thames feels liek a magical trip. It’s an amazing place to hang out and just be.

Convinced London is the place to be? You should be!
