The Cottons Hotel & Spa is situated on the fringe of Knutsford, a short drive from Manchester Airport, motorway connections and the beautiful grounds of Tatton Park.
Once a traditional family-owned hotel, the property has since expanded with newer wings added and is now owned by Daniel Thwaites. It has a contemporary feel, with a pub-style bar and a dining area with huge windows overlooking the country roads. It’s been a long time since my last visit, so I honestly can’t remember what it looked like before, but I do remember that many years ago it was a local haunt for Posh and Becks!
I’d brought my sister Mandy along to review the new ‘Taste of Autumn’ package. This rejuvenating package offered a luxurious escape for the afternoon, at the affordable price of just £99 for a Temple Spa Soother Treatment – a 35-minute experience that refreshes tired legs and soothes busy minds.
We arrived at our allocated time and immediately changed into our swimsuits and headed for the pool. But, as it was one of Cheshire’s few days of sunshine, so as not to miss the weather, we decided to relax outside on a sun lounger and dip in and out of the outdoor jacuzzi. After some much-needed vitamin D, we went to the spa’s relaxation area for our consultation before our treatment.
The aromatic body experience is an instant relief for tired and overworked muscles, focusing on the lower legs with an exfoliation, followed by a cooling and refreshing massage to leave them instantly lighter, which was absolute heaven for me as I was still recovering from a broken ankle.
It finished with a shoulder, neck and scalp massage to target any knots of stress, which left me truly soothed and refreshed. To complement the three hours of relaxing spa experience, we enjoyed a delectable two-course lunch, which was the perfect finale to our day.
