To celebrate the milestone, Icelandair is offering travellers a 20% discount on all flights from Manchester between 2nd- 6th April

Icelandair is celebrating 20 years since it first began flying from Manchester, with the inaugural flight taking place on 7th April 2006.

Since the launch, Iceland has since grown in popularity among British travellers, while the route itself has enjoyed sustained commercial success. Launching initially with twice weekly flights, the service has since doubled to offer both leisure and business passengers greater connectivity with daily flights during the winter and 4 flights a week in the Summer in 2026. This Summer, MAN will get the new A321 on 3 weekly flights.

To celebrate the milestone, Icelandair is offering travellers a 20% discount on all flights from Manchester. Starting from 2nd April and running until 6th April, British holidaymakers can enjoy this fantastic deal on Icelandair flights to Reykjavik across Economy Standard & Flex, as well as Saga Premium & Flex seats. Just include the discount code MAN20 at the checkout.

Manchester is a city where innovation and culture come together. Known for its rich industrial heritage, striking Victorian architecture, world-class sports, and vibrant music scene, it also hosts world-renowned events such as the Manchester International Festival.

Bogi Nils Bogason, President and CEO at Icelandair said:

“We’re thrilled to celebrate two decades of connecting Manchester to Iceland and beyond. Icelandair is proud of our partnership with the community in the North of England, and our ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional service. As travellers discover Iceland’s stunning natural beauty and connect to 17 destinations across United States and Canada, we look forward to many more years of growth and exploration together.”

Stephen Turner, Chief Commercial Officer at Manchester Airport, said:

“We’re proud to connect people from across the North with destinations across the globe, with a broader route network than any other airport in the UK outside London. However we wouldn’t be able to offer that without the strong relationships that we’ve built with our airline partners, including Icelandair. We appreciate their ongoing commitment to the people of Manchester and the North, and we’re delighted to join them in celebrating this important milestone.

“The imminent completion of our £1.3bn investment in Terminal 2 means passengers flying with Icelandair can expect a great experience, with access to fantastic modern facilities – and this investment in our infrastructure will allow us to develop our partnership even further in years to come.”

From Reykjavik, travellers can easily connect to a wide range of destinations across North America and Canada – including New York, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver, and Orlando. When flying transatlantic with Icelandair, passengers can stay in Iceland for 1 to 7 days, enjoying the chance to explore two remarkable destinations in a single journey.
