Jenny Powell Hosts First ‘Femisphere Live’ Event in Response to Overwhelming Support After Her Hysterectomy

Sold-Out Event with The Women’s Health Club Empowers 150 Women with Expert Advice and Real-Life Stories

After receiving an overwhelming response from women across the UK following her well-publicised hysterectomy, TV presenter Jenny Powell has taken action. Last night, alongside her gynaecologist Dr Mahshid Amiry and the Women’s Health Club, she brought together a panel of experts to launch The Femisphere Event Series—a groundbreaking initiative designed to educate, engage and empower women to make better decisions for their own health.

The first-ever live Femisphere Event at Wilmslow Conference Centre saw a sell-out crowd of 150 women coming together to discuss menopause, endometriosis, skin health, mental wellbeing, and nutrition—topics that too often go unspoken or misunderstood.

Among the guests were Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon, BBC Radio Manchester’s Sam Nanda, and Emma Neville, founder of This Is Me, who all played key roles in making the evening a raw, emotional, and informative experience.

Speaking about her decision to launch the event, Jenny Powell said:

“After sharing my hysterectomy journey, I was completely overwhelmed by the response from women going through the same thing. Hundreds of women reached out, saying they felt confused, unsupported, and alone. That’s when I knew I had to do more. So I teamed up with Dr Amiry and the Women’s Health Club to create a space where women could finally get the information, support and expert insights they deserve.”

Women’s Health Takes Centre Stage

The event, organised in partnership with HCA Healthcare UK The Wilmslow Hospital, delivered an evening of powerful conversations, expert advice and personal experiences.

Samia Longchambon asked insightful questions throughout the night, particularly to celebrity skincare expert William Foley, who she personally trusts for her own skin regime.

BBC Radio Manchester’s Sam Nanda bravely shared her hysterectomy journey, revealing how stage 4 endometriosis had gone undiagnosed for years, leading to debilitating pain that left her unable to walk on holiday and struggling with daily tasks. Her story resonated deeply with the audience, sparking an open and emotional conversation with other women facing similar experiences.

Emma Neville, founder of This Is Me, shared her heartfelt story of being diagnosed with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) at just 40, highlighting the lack of awareness and support for younger women experiencing menopause.

Dr Amiry,Consultant Gynaecologist who practices at The Wilmslow Hospital, Calls for Urgent Action on Women’s Health Research

A key takeaway from the event was the urgent need for more research and funding into women’s health. Dr Mahshid Amiry, consultant gynaecologist, made a powerful call to action, urging for more investment into underfunded areas such as menopause, endometriosis, and pelvic health. Her words were met with overwhelming support from the audience.

Co-founders of The Women’s Health Club, Jo Hoddes and Abi Owers, spoke about why this event was so needed: “No Two Women Are the Same – It’s Time to Empower Women.

“There is so much information out there, yet women are still left feeling confused and unsupported. Our goal is simple – to give women real, practical knowledge they can trust, so they can make the right decisions for their own bodies, whatever their age or stage in life.”

A Powerhouse Panel of Experts

The event was designed in a chat-show-style format, hosted by Jenny Powell, featuring some of the UK’s leading health and wellbeing experts:

Dr Mahshid Amiry, consultant gynaecologist, broke down common myths about pelvic health, periods, and menopause, as well as the latest advancements in robotic hysterectomies.

William Foley, award-winning skincare expert and celebrity facialist, revealed the truth about ageing skin, LED light therapy, and what really works for long-term skin health.

Dr Aoiffe Kilcommons, consultant clinical psychologist, led a powerful meditation session to demonstrate the link between mental resilience and physical health.

Jeannette Jackson, nutrition expert, gave no-nonsense advice on how diet impacts fluctuating oestrogen levels and overall wellbeing.

A Night of Inspiration and Connection

Reflecting on the impact of the evening, Jenny Powell said:

“I’m so incredibly proud of what we achieved last night. It was amazing to see so many women open up and share their experiences alongside our incredible panel. We all learnt so much, and as one lady said to me: ‘I laughed and I cried, but most importantly, I didn’t feel alone anymore and feel so blessed to discover this community.’ That’s exactly why we do this.”

Many attendees spoke of frustration and anxiety when it comes to their health, often not knowing where to turn or who to trust. The Women’s Health Club aims to change that by offering ongoing support through expert-led events, community discussions, and practical, evidence-based advice.

The event also showcased alcohol-free drinks from Amanda Thomson’s NOUGHTY, a luxury non-alcoholic wine brand, aligning with the event’s theme of smart choices for long-term health.

What’s Next?

Following the overwhelming success of this event, The Women’s Health Club is expanding its Femisphere Event Series, bringing more expert-led, empowering sessions to women across the UK in 2025.
