Playa de Palma is one of Mallorca’s most enduringly popular stretches of coastline. A 4.6km sweep of Blue Flag sand running between Can Pastilla and S’Arenal.

Known for its lively, tourist-friendly vibe, it pairs clear, shallow waters with a bustling promenade lined with balnearios, restaurants and bars, all within easy reach of Palma city and just minutes from the airport. It’s a setting that effortlessly blends convenience with classic Mediterranean appeal.

Checking into the newly unveiled Aubamar Palma Resort, a five-star addition that feels poised to elevate the area’s luxury offering. A short stroll around 300 metres from the beach, yet only fifteen minutes from Palma’s historic centre. That balance between resort ease and city access defines the experience.

The property itself is spread across three sleek, light-filled buildings, with a design that leans into contemporary minimalism softened by Mediterranean warmth. My room, a sea-view suite, was spacious and calming, with a neutral palette, clean lines and a private terrace that quickly became my preferred spot for morning coffee and late-afternoon downtime. Despite its 495 rooms, the resort is intelligently laid out. I spent much of my time moving between the various pool areas; there are ten altogether, including a semi-Olympic pool and quieter sun-lounging zones that offer a more relaxed pace. The spa & wellness areas provide a welcome contrast, particularly for a slower start to the day.

There’s also a noticeable emphasis on wellness and activity. The gym facilities are well-equipped, and the dedicated cycling station is a smart addition, especially given Mallorca’s popularity with cyclists.

Dining is where the resort begins to distinguish itself. Dinner at Algust, the à la carte restaurant with polished Mediterranean dishes and a clear focus on quality ingredients, while Aldente offers a buffet option but still a considered international spread.

The standout, however, is the rooftop. As the highest in Playa de Palma, it commands wide, uninterrupted views across the coastline. At sunset, it becomes the natural focal point of the resort. Cocktail in hand (the chilli mojito, in my case), the atmosphere shifts from relaxed to quietly electric.

What’s particularly compelling is how seamlessly everything connects. You can spend the morning by the pool, walk to the beach for the afternoon, and be in Palma for dinner within minutes. It’s a level of flexibility that makes the resort equally suited to short breaks and longer stays.

Aubamar Palma Resort arrives with confidence. It’s polished, well-positioned and clearly designed to meet the expectations of modern travellers looking for both energy and escape something Playa de Palma, increasingly, is well equipped to deliver.
