Francis House is a very special children’s hospice in Didsbury, Manchester which cares for children with a short life expectancy, and their families. Caring for someone, often for twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week can put a huge strain on families. When parents are told their child has an illness for which there is no known cure, the news is devastating.
Currently we are supporting over 600 families from across Greater Manchester which means we are touching the lives over 3,000 people and providing vital services including respite care, home care, sibling support including Shining Stars and activity weekends for bereaved siblings, end of life care and bereavement support.
Francis House is free of charge to all who stay, as financial problems are the last thing on a parent’s mind during these sad times.
Francis House needs £4.8 million a year (a herculean task at present). We get less than 12% from Government funding which pays for 42 days in the year. We need to find funding for the other 323 days of the year to provide all these services.
The funds raised from our Summer Raffle will make an enormous difference so we can continue our special work here and continue to be a lifeline to families who are facing the toughest of challenges.
As our children and families who are unable to do so personally, they send a big THANK YOU in advancefor your support and concern.
