The Jockey Club Live season was well and truly out of the starting stalls on Saturday when the legendary DJ and founding-father of dance music, PETE TONG took thousands of race goers on a trip to Ibiza and back with his critically acclaimed Ibiza Classics tour. Along with the 65-piece Essential Orchestra conducted by the super-talented Jules Buckley, favourite club tracks were reimagined and coupled with the latest in music technology and incredible visual effects which, along with the sunshine bathing Haydock Park Racecourse in its glow, fooled you into thinking you were somewhere in Ibiza in the late 90s.
Regardless of if they won or lost on the horse racing, the audience buzzed with enthusiasm and the performers didn’t disappoint. It was a night full of fun and nostalgia, with happy hedonists all around as far as the eye could see, in a collective joy. Banger after banger boomed out to the delighted crowd. Floorfillers like Faithless’ Insomnia and Energy 52’s Cafe del Mar blared out as Tong highlighted individual musicians talents – including the giant tuba solo to Zombie Nation!
The audience were taken to a music high and left without a care in the world. This spectacular show is must see for all dance fans – regardless of age. What an unrivalled highlight to kick off the (albeit belated) British summer! It definitely didn’t all go Pete Tong on the night!
