Spring Fashion Staples For Moms

As busy moms we usually dont have as much time for ourselves as we’d like, but we all still want to feel good about ourselves. And when the nicer spring weather makes an appearance, hiding behind puffy coats, hoodies and leggings becomes a lot more obvious. Your winter wardrobe might have you feeling self conscious when the sun comes out (even if it is still pretty cold!) You dont need to be dressed to the nines every day of course, but having a few wardrobe staples that fit you nicely and work well to transition through from cold weather to the warmer days is important. Putting together an easy to wear wardrobe of outfits is one of the best ways to do it so you can get dressed each morning without too much thought and know you’ll look put together. Here are some essentials.

Staple dresses

Dresses are one of the best staples you can put in your wardrobe, there’s no need to match tops and bottoms and they’re so versatile. Depending on the material and cut you go for you can find the perfect thing to flatter your figure no matter what size or shape you are, and they tend to look great when you get it right. Do some research into what body shape you are and what cut will fit you best, and then you can pair up some simple dresses for easy everyday looks. Something like Sacha Drake linen dresses work well for everyday and when you invest in nice quality it will last too. Wear them with tights and boots while its still cold, and transition to sandals and a light jacket with them when it gets a bit warmer.

Tops that fit right

As moms our bodies tend to change over time, and things that used to fit well might look a bit short or clingy now, or your style might just be different to what it was. Having a small selection of tops that fit well can make getting dressed so much easier, as when it comes to trousers you can usually keep it simple and go with the same pairs of jeans, leggings or linen trousers you’re comfortable in each time. It’s the top that will make the outfit look different so it’s good to get it right. Soft knits, relaxed shirts and simple long sleeve tops tend to be more forgiving and easier to style, dont forget to look for breastfeeding friendly options if you’re silk breastfeeding (wrap tops are good for this and are cheaper than buying specific breastfeeding friendly clothes)

Light layers

During the spring when the weather is all over the place, it’s good to have clothing that’s versatile to keep you comfortable. And going for light layers is one of the best ways to do this, things you can pop on and off when the weather heats up or cools down. A denim jacket is the perfect staple, or a blazer which can make a really casual outfit look that bit more dressy which is great for daytime coffee dates or parents evenings and things. A waterproof rain mac with a hood is always a good investment for spring, and good for later in the year in autumn too.
