NH Collection Amsterdam Barbizon Palace

The five-star NH Collection Amsterdam Barbizon Palace is a stunning architectural marvel, spread over nineteen 17th Century houses, with canals on both sides of the hotel. Situated in the most historic part of the city, right in the heart of Amsterdam, and conveniently located opposite Central Station with links to the airport. It’s a stone’s throw from the Royal Palace, shops and restaurants.

The hotel’s history is still visible in many of the rooms – most suites even have the original wooden ceilings and a canal view. There are 268 spacious rooms, each featuring classic decor, the usual amenities and many offering beautiful city views. There are connecting rooms for those needing more space and long stays are also available in one of the private apartments.

Guests can enjoy a large lounge area in the lobby, two restaurants, and if you’re there for business, there are 12 meeting rooms. The fitness area, sauna and steam rooms are a great place to re-energise after a day exploring the city. The sauna and steam room are open from 6am till midnight and the gym provides equipment for a full body workout. And for an additional charge, guests can enjoy a range of spa services including massages. The hotel offers valet parking as well as limited parking on site and there’s a private jetty, so arrival by boat is an option.

From high-quality mattresses and locally sourced ingredients to the NH Collection Amsterdam Barbizon Palace being ‘Green Key certified to intelligent control of light and indoor climate’, the hotel has it covered. The guest relations team make your stay exceptional, and the concierge, who has worked at the hotel for over 35 years, is the one to ask for local tips.

Restaurant Vermeer is well known among Amsterdam foodies. The restaurant was one of the first to offer a mainly plant-based menu, with ingredients home grown and fully seasonal. The hotel also features a bar where guests can unwind and enjoy a drink. The Vermeer’s cellar has a collection of exclusive wines which can be enjoyed in the hotel bar. The breakfast with NH Collection signature, has an à la carte menu, with a large variety of choices both sweet and savoury, in addition to the extensive buffet.

Forget everything you think you know about Amsterdam because there’s so much more to this city than canals and an open-minded lifestyle – and it’s impossible not to fall in love with it after a few days of walking across the twinkling lights on the bridges – oh, and avoiding being run over a bicycle!

We spent five fantastic days at the NH Collection Amsterdam Barbizon Palace, right in the heart of Amsterdam. Our room was bright and breezy with a great view. Breakfast was a tasty treat that powered us through days of exploring and walking. With tons of bars, restaurants and shops just steps away, plus many museums and attractions within easy reach, this place is perfectly positioned. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We even took the train from the airport since Central Station is just across the road. If you’re looking for a luxe city getaway, this spot is a winner.

We’ll definitely be back!
