The best caravan holiday spots in the UK

There are so many different holiday spots in the UK to choose from, so how do you even know where to start? There are great destinations for seaside breaks, woodland adventures or even a city weekend away – it all depends on the sort of holiday you’re personally looking for.

For family-friendly holiday options, you can’t really beat a visit to a caravan holiday park, some of which are located in particularly beautiful and exciting parts of the country. Getting to spend time away in a cosy caravan is definitely better than having to muck around with setting up a tent – especially in the ever-changeable UK weather!

So, let’s take a look at a few of the best spots around the UK that make for ideal last minute caravan holidays.

Cornwall

If you’re looking for a slice of sunshine without leaving the UK, then Cornwall is absolutely a spot to consider. It’s one of the most popular holiday destinations in the country for a reason, with its many beautiful beaches, long, spectacular stretch of coastline and plenty of charming towns and fishing villages.

Anyone seeking a seaside escape really can’t go wrong with a caravan holiday in Cornwall. Who wouldn’t want to spend a break with the chance to walk straight out onto a nearby beach every morning, ready for a wander along the sands, a run with the dog or even a spot of surfing?

From locations like Perranporth and St Ives to Newquay, there are plenty of options when it comes to finding the ideal spot for a slice of time away in Cornwall.

Lake District

If you’re less about the beaches and more about rugged, mountainous landscapes, then the Lake District could be the place for you. With its numerous lakes – from which the region takes its name – and rolling hillsides, there’s no end of ways to occupy yourself on a holiday here.

Outdoor activities are where the Lake District really shine, with opportunities for mountain biking, hiking, rambling, kayaking or even paddleboarding. The really adventurous visitors can make a go of the summit of Scafell Pike, the highest peak in the whole of England.

But the Lake District can cater to slower-paced holidays too, with lovely villages like Ambleside, Keswick, and Grasmere that you can explore at your leisure. Pop into quaint tea rooms, local shops or visit one of the museums dedicated to local writers like William Wordsworth or Beatrix Potter.

Devon

Or perhaps you want to have more of a mix of coast and countryside on your holiday? Devon is often overlooked in favour of its next-door neighbour, but it also has more than its fair share of charm and beauty.

There are many beaches on both the north and south coasts of the county, along with vast and impressive swaths of rolling hills in between. A trip to Dartmoor National Park is a must for any visitor, as you can spend days exploring its wild moors, historic villages and weathered woodlands. Plus, there are wild ponies to spot for any animal lovers in the group!

Torquay, Exmouth and Ilfracombe are all excellent seaside towns to check out, as well as great staging points from which to explore the county. You can even try out parts of the South West Coast Path, or catch the start of the world-famous Jurassic Coast near Exmouth.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re more in mind to explore the coast or some quintessential British countryside, there are some lovely caravan holiday spots to choose from. So, don’t delay any further and get your bags packed for a well-deserved break in one of these lovely parts of the country.
