For Joseph and Zac, today’s GCSE results mark an excellent achievement and the beginning of the next stage of their academic journeys, with both aspiring to pursue careers in Law.
Joseph, from Altrincham, achieved all grade 9s and will study History, English Literature, Chinese and German at A Level. He is a committed member of the MGS Orchestra and Flute Ensemble, was the winner of the High Master’s History Essay Competition, and will take on the role of Co-President of the Senior History Society in Year 12. He also attends SlangSoc.

Zac, from Cheadle, also achieved a clean sweep of grade 9s and will study Chinese, Spanish, Politics and Philosophy at A Level. Alongside his academic interests, he was a member of the U15 Water Polo team that became English Schools’ National Champions in 2025 and is an active member of both the Philosophy Society and Geography Society.
Their results reflect a strong combination of academic achievement, intellectual curiosity and wider involvement in school life.
Pupils at The Manchester Grammar School are celebrating another year of exceptional GCSE examination results.
46% of all grades were at the very highest grade 9 level and 84% of all grades achieved were 9, 8 or 7 (the equivalent of A*/A).
These GCSE results follow another outstanding set of A-level results for MGS pupils last week, with 32% of all grades at A* and 92% at A*, A or B.
This level of performance puts MGS in a very select group of schools nationally.
The School’s High Master, Dr Martin Boulton, said, “We are very proud of this group of pupils having achieved such outstanding results. Our boys can now approach the next exciting stage of their academic careers with real confidence.”
“I would like to thank our dedicated staff for the work they have done to support our pupils through their GCSEs.”
