A chic retreat in the heart of stylish Shoreditch

Shoreditch has long been one of London’s most creative neighbourhoods, known for its independent boutiques, lively restaurants, colourful street art and unmistakable East London energy. Perfectly placed within this vibrant setting, Hart Shoreditch offers a stylish base from which to explore it all.

The hotel’s design takes inspiration from the area’s industrial heritage, blending raw architectural details with contemporary interiors and a warm, relaxed atmosphere. It feels polished without being overly formal, making it equally suited to a weekend escape, a London shopping trip or a stylish city stopover.

Location is one of Hart Shoreditch’s greatest strengths. Old Spitalfields Market, Brick Lane and Columbia Road Flower Market are all within easy reach, while the surrounding streets are filled with cafés, bars, galleries and independent shops. Old Street, Shoreditch High Street and Liverpool Street stations are also nearby, making it easy to travel across the capital.

After a busy day in London, the hotel provides a welcome retreat from the pace of the city outside. We stayed in a King Deluxe Room, which was spacious, modern and exceptionally comfortable. The large king-sized bed was exactly what we needed after a full day of exploring, while thoughtful touches included complimentary Soapsmith toiletries, Wi-Fi, tea and coffee-making facilities, room service and wonderfully fluffy bathrobes. The room had a calm, contemporary feel, with warm lighting and understated details creating an inviting place to relax. Despite being in the centre of one of London’s liveliest areas, the hotel was totally restful.

A highlight of our stay was brunch at UBA, Hart Shoreditch’s pan-Asian restaurant. Stylish, atmospheric and full of personality, UBA offers a dining experience that feels as creative as the neighbourhood itself.

The food was delicious, beautifully presented and packed with flavour, taking inspiration from across Asia. It felt like a genuine culinary experience rather than simply a convenient hotel lunch. Just as impressive were the staff, who were attentive, professional and friendly throughout, striking exactly the right balance between polished service and relaxed hospitality.

Art and design play an important role at Hart Shoreditch, further connecting the hotel with the creative spirit of its surroundings. The hotel has partnered with contemporary urban artist Mali Mowcka on an ongoing series of installations exploring transformation, nature and renewal.

Following the earlier exhibition, Transmutation – Matter – Spirit, the partnership continues with Sanctum of Renewal, an immersive installation created for the London Design Festival. The work will transform UBA into a contemporary sacred space, with approximately 160 to 200 handcrafted wooden forms suspended from the ceiling alongside delicate translucent resin petals.

Designed to appear as though they are floating through the restaurant, the sculptural elements will introduce a sense of movement, lightness and calm. The installation draws inspiration from the Japanese concept of Yūgen, which celebrates subtle, mysterious beauty and the things that reveal themselves gradually through quiet observation.

Organic shapes that evoke waves, clouds and natural landscapes, invites guests to slow down and look a little more closely. It will be an imaginative addition to the restaurant and perfectly reflects Shoreditch’s reputation as a destination for art, culture and design.
