Water is beneficial in a variety of ways besides what it does when we drink. Drinking enough water is one of the best defenses you have against a range of issues, including low energy. However, there are many other ways you can use water to boost your health and happiness.
Earthing Your Body
Earthing is a type of holistic therapy that aims to realign the natural energy of your body and mind. Also known as grounding, there are various methods you can try. Walking barefoot on grass is believed to be a potent form of earthing. However, grounding in water is also popular. Hot springs, the ocean, and ponds are considered excellent earthing places. Some benefits may include antioxidant properties, reduced inflammation, and the promotion of better sleeping.
Keeping You Cool
Unless it’s a hot spring, most natural bodies of water are pretty cold. While this can be viewed as a negative, it really can help when the sun is scorching. Overheating causes many issues and even death when not treated. Water will naturally keep you cool when you take a dip. However, even spraying yourself with water keeps you cool as it evaporates from your skin. This quick and simple act could be the difference between enjoying the day or a trip to the ER!
Water is Beneficial for Hygiene
Water is of course what we use to wash ourselves with. The vast majority of people in developed countries with access to clean water shower daily. And often that is all we need. Of course, soap products will help. But water alone is enough to remove most bacteria and excess oil from the skin. Aside from simple self care, water also provides a soothing benefit when you shower or take a bath. In turn, this simple act reduces stress and helps calm you down.
Daily Moisturization
Drinking water is the best way to keep your internal organs (including the skin) moisturized. However, not everyone enjoys water as a beverage. In some countries, it can also be dangerous to drink water. However, water on your skin can provide a lot of the daily moisture it needs to stay healthy. A body with enough water will work much better at doing what it needs to do. Even if you can’t or won’t drink water, immersion will provide some health benefits.
Purifying Indoor Air
You may or may not know that there is water in the air all the time. Humidity plays a key role in respiratory health. However, too much or too little is hazardous. Air purifiers can help control the moisture in the air in your home. They can also catch excess dust particles and clean the air. It may not work as well as HEPA filters, but filters don’t control humidity. Some people also swear by air ionization products that use water to release negative ions into the air to clean it further.
Summary
Earthing is just one of the ways in which water is beneficial outside of drinking. Of course, you can use water to stay clean and healthy. But it can also be used to purify and clean indoor air.
