Namaste Nepal Celebrates 15 Years of Bringing Authentic Nepalese Flavours to Manchester

A much-loved Burton Road restaurant marked a milestone anniversary with an evening of celebration, community and distinguished guests.

Namaste Nepal celebrated its 15th anniversary on Sunday, 2 August 2026, marking a significant milestone for the family-run restaurant and its longstanding place within Manchester’s dining community.

The anniversary celebration welcomed the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Shaukat Ali, accompanied by the Lady Mayoress, alongside Manchester Withington MP Jeff Smith and Councillor John Leech.

The occasion also provided an opportunity for Namaste Nepal to celebrate with the people who have played an important part in its story: its customers. Many diners joined the festivities as guests, turning the anniversary into a celebration not simply of the restaurant itself, but of the community that has supported it over the past 15 years.

Four Decades of Hospitality

At the heart of Namaste Nepal is Chandra Kumar KC, whose experience in the hospitality industry spans more than four decades on Burton Road, West Didsbury.

His commitment to traditional Nepalese cuisine and attentive restaurant service has helped establish Namaste Nepal as a familiar name on the local dining scene. Over the past 15 years, the restaurant has built its reputation around traditional dishes, quality ingredients and consistently high standards.

Namaste Nepal is very much a family affair. Chandra is supported by his wife, Poonam KC, whose contribution has been an important part of the restaurant’s continued success.

The restaurant’s longevity is also supported by an experienced management team. Manager Iqbal Bahar, known as Jewel, has been with Namaste Nepal for more than a decade and brings over 34 years of restaurant management experience to the business.

A Manchester Milestone

Reaching 15 years is a considerable achievement in an ever-changing hospitality landscape, and Namaste Nepal’s anniversary offered a moment to recognise the dedication, experience and relationships behind the restaurant.

From its traditional Nepalese dishes to the warm hospitality that has welcomed diners through its doors year after year, Namaste Nepal has developed a loyal following while remaining rooted in its family-run identity.

The presence of civic and political guests at the anniversary celebration added to the significance of the occasion, while the participation of customers reflected the restaurant’s connection with its local community.

After 15 years, Namaste Nepal’s story remains one built around family, food and hospitality — and, as the Burton Road restaurant celebrates this latest chapter, it looks set to continue sharing the flavours and traditions of Nepal with Manchester for many years to come.
