As the schools and universities start heading back this week, you may be reminiscing about the summer holidays that have just passed you by. Children aren’t children for very long and it is so important you spend as much quality time with them as you can. They will grow up and venture off into the big wide world someday and you need to be confident that they will be able to handle this. Check out the article below to find out what you can do with them and how you can spend quality time with them while they are still little.
Head To The Cinema
If you are looking for something to do and it’s raining outdoors then you could head to the cinema. There are plenty of child friendly films put on quite regularly so there will always be something worth watching. If you are looking for a back to school treat for your children then Beetlejuice 2 comes out on Friday. If you don’t fancy heading out the house then you can always treat the kids to a movie day inside. Get some snacks and choose a film, you can even create little cinema tickets so it’s more fun for the kids.
Go To The Park
If the weather is nice then why not take the kids to the park? It gives them a great chance to run around and burn off some excess energy, they might even see some of their friends while at the park. If you have a park within walking distance then that’s great but if the kids prefer one that is slightly further away then give them a nice surprise and take them there. Parks that are safe and secure with fencing around them are safer for your children, especially if they have a tendency to run and not listen.
Invite Friends Around
Before the kids go back you could invite some of their existing school friends around. If they are not yet in school then how about inviting their nursery friends around instead. They might all be going to the same school so it will be nice to have them all together again before they venture off to ‘big school’. If you have older children then your child might want to have a sleepover with some of their friends. Make sure you speak to the other parents involved so you know of any allergies or difficulties you need to know about.
Throw An Amazing Party
When your children finish school or nursery and are heading to the next stage in their education then why not throw them an amazing party? Children enjoy feeling loved and valued, a party is a wonderful way to show them how much you love and care for them. Invite all their friends and some family over so everyone can have a great time together. Children will always remember parties and who was there with them. If you don’t want to make food yourself then you could hire a catering company who specializes in kids food.
Join Clubs
If you need to work long hours and you are not able to spend as much time with your children as you’d like then it might be worthwhile signing them up to clubs. This will ensure they are well looked after and fed while you are busy working. Their nursery or school might put on kids clubs during the holidays before they go back to school. Speak to your children to see if they want to go to that club or a different one, you want them to be happy with where they are going.
Exercise Together
Children love burning energy so you could incorporate this into your daily workout routine. If you are exercising then why not get the kids involved as well, there are plenty of online workouts you can all follow along to. If you like going out to workout then you can all run around the local park. Alternatively, you could join a family exercise class. They have them all over and can include things like Boxercise or yoga. There may be a discount if there are more than two of you but not all classes offer this offer.
Help With Homework
If your children are struggling with various areas of their education then you could give them an extra hand with their homework. Sit down with your children and put all technology away so you can show them they have your full attention. You can always grab some extra resources from the internet, reading comprehension for kids for instance. If you are unable to teach your children the things they need to learn then you could always hire a tutor to help them. Children who have tutors are more likely to succeed with learning and various testing in schools.
Read Books
There is nothing better for kids than sitting and reading a great book. If you sit with your children from the very beginning and read to them they will pick up words and sounds very quickly. Speaking to children is the best way they learn how to talk and hold a conversation, reading is also a wonderful way to teach phonics. Everything comes from reading and it is a vital life skill that children need. Your children should know their alphabet and be in the beginning stages of reading by the time they head to school.
Go Abroad
Lastly, what is nicer than spending time together at home? Spending quality time together abroad in the sun. Choose a fun destination where you can go out and see the local sites. If you enjoy sun, sand, and sea then a beach vacation will be the best option. Share your love of vacation destinations with your children and they will remember it forever.
