5 Must-See Cities in Europe

Amsterdam Winter

Famous for its immense architecture, world-class shopping and centuries-old culture, Europe boasts some of the most intriguing and beautiful cities in the world. No matter what you’re looking for, be it historical sites, iconic landmarks or incredible food, each European city has something unique to offer.

Fancy a long weekend away? These suggestions might inspire your next destination!

Paris

The City of Love has something for everyone, no matter whether you’re there alone, with friends or with that special someone. Packed with landmarks like the soaring Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the whimsical banks of the River Seine, you can tick plenty off your bucket list here.

It’s also known as Europe’s art capital. Catch a glimpse of the Mona Lisa before pondering the meaning of various modern art pieces at Musée d’Art Moderne and enjoying an espresso break next to the river. And if you are there with the love of your life, the Love Lock Bridge is a must-do.

Amsterdam

A mere hop, skip and jump from UK shores, Amsterdam is a great option for a weekend getaway. Known for its red-light district, liberal cafes and quaint canals, the capital of the Netherlands is as pretty as a postcard.

It boasts a whole load of history too. Where Anne Frank and her family found solace and safety during the second world war, you can visit Anne Frank House and even peep into the annexe where she wrote her now famous diary.

Prague

The Czech capital is so much more than a cheap destination for hen and stag parties. Its reputation as a fiercely resilient city comes from surviving numerous attacks, invasions and fires throughout its history. The fact that today, it is a bustling, cosmopolitan city full of personality and culture is a testament to its character.

With endless things to do, like visiting Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, Old Town Square and eating your weight in spicy goulash, it most certainly deserves a top spot on your Europe tour.

Rome

The Italian capital needs no introduction. Home to some of the most mind-boggling history in the whole of Europe, it’s the home to the towering Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon.

And seeing as you’re in Italy, you just know you’re going to eat really well. Food is central to the Italian way of life, so ditch the diet and dive right into mouth-watering pizzas, plates of pasta and cakes at every turn.

Barcelona

Finally, Spain’s best-loved city can be anything you want it to be. Get your tan on with a day at the beach, hit the mountains in the near distance or indulge your inner culture vulture with its plethora of artwork, cobbled boulevards and cathedrals.
