Step into a world of elegance as Refuge, the celebrated bar and restaurant nestled within Manchester’s grand Kimpton Clocktower Hotel, introduces its exquisite new Afternoon Tea experience. This reimagined ritual is hosted in the venue’s lush Winter Garden — a tranquil oasis where sophistication meets serenity. Curated in collaboration with esteemed local tea purveyors, Tea from the Manor, this elevated offering invites guests to explore an exclusive collection of loose leaf teas, including a bespoke Refuge
Blend — a vibrant infusion of rosehip, hibiscus, peppermint, blackcurrant, and strawberry leaves. Alongside familiar favourites such as Earl Grey and Peppermint Black, connoisseurs will delight in rare selections like Silver Needle white tea and the indulgently aromatic Rum Arabica, a spiced rum and cocoa blend.
The culinary experience, crafted by Refuge’s team of chefs, presents a playful yet polished take on traditional Afternoon Tea. Expect meticulously prepared savouries such as truffled egg mayonnaise finger sandwiches and smoked salmon with pickled cucumber on brioche, alongside a parade of refined patisserie — from lemon-glazed meringue tarts to freshly baked scones served with classic accompaniments.
Served every Friday and Saturday from 12:00pm to 3:30pm, this is an Afternoon Tea designed for discerning palates and memorable moments — be it a celebratory occasion or a luxurious interlude in your weekend. As David Lockhart, General Manager of Kimpton Clocktower Hotel, shares: “This experience has been a true labour of love. Guests may choose between the traditional Afternoon Tea, priced at £35 per person, or opt for indulgence with a Champagne pairing at £49 per person.
