Pupils at The Manchester Grammar School are celebrating another year of exceptional GCSE examination results.
Pupils Vinay, Alex and Michael achieved outstanding GCSE results, each securing a full set of Grade 9s.
Vinay, a Brown Belt in Karate who has completed his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award and achieved Grade 8 in Piano, will be studying A Levels in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Spanish. Alex, who has completed his Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, participates in LAMDA and is a member of the MGS Cricket team, will be studying A Levels in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Drama. Michael, who was awarded Gold in both the Chemistry Olympiad and the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, has achieved distinction in Grade 8 Piano and is currently preparing for his Piano Diploma as well as Grade 8 Organ. He will be studying A Levels in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Philosophy.

All three pupils aspire to pursue a career in Medicine.
49% of all GCSE grades were at the very highest grade 9 level and 73% of all grades achieved were 9 or 8 (the equivalent of an A*). Just a few of the many highlights: 87% of Latin, 85% of Religious Studies, 81% of Further Maths, 79% of Electronics, and 74% of Music results were graded at the highest level of 9.
These GCSE results follow another outstanding set of A-level results for MGS pupils last week, with 37% of all grades at A* and 93% at A*, A or B.
This level of performance puts MGS in a very select group of schools nationally.

The School’s High Master, Dr Martin Boulton, said, “We are very proud of this group of pupils having achieved such outstanding results. Our boys can now approach the next exciting stage of their academic careers with real confidence. I would like to thank our dedicated staff for the work they have done to support our pupils through their GCSEs.”
