Well done to Harry, Jibril, Josh, and Armaan from the Manchester Grammar School who formed the winning team for the boys’ category in the UK PADEL National Schools U18 Championships.
This was the largest junior padel event ever held in the UK, featuring 132 young players from schools across the country. Defending champions Whitgift were knocked out in the quarterfinals by Aylesbury Grammar, who themselves fell at the next stage. The final saw The Manchester Grammar School face Epsom College, with MGS prevailing 12–5 to secure the trophy.
Year 13 pupil Harry, currently ranked 41st individually in the U18 category nationwide, reflected on the team’s achievement: “Throughout the tournament, everyone demonstrated exceptional teamwork and sportsmanship both on and off the court, representing the school with pride. It was truly incredible to be a part of such a well-organised and huge event around such a new and rapidly growing sport, and emerging victorious showed us that all the work and preparation that we put in leading up to the competition was worth it. I am so proud of all the players, and we are honoured to bring such a remarkable achievement back to MGS. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for our padel teams.”
