Tired Of Only Seeing Friends Over Lunch: Here's What To Plan Instead

When you’re a busy adult with a lot to get on with, the chances you get to see your friends tend to dwindle down. On those rare occasions when you do have an opportunity to get together, it’s always a couple hours over lunch – no one has the energy to do anything else!

And when you think about this, it can start to weigh on you. You’re always trying to catch up, never getting the chance to do anything new together, and feeling like you’re not really part of each other’s lives.

Let’s change that! If you’re sick of only ever having lunch dates with your beloved pals, here are a few things you can plan instead.

Join a Club Together

If you and your friends are desperate to combine your time together with something properly engaging, why not see if there’s a club you can both join? You don’t want the overall time commitment to be too much, so the club in question needs to only meet once a month or so.

Book clubs, for example, are usually great for this, as are arts and crafts clubs. Find one near you, head along for your first session, and see if you both enjoy your time there.

Try an Escape Room

Escape rooms make for great friend-dates. No matter what escape rooms you want to try out, you’ll have a great hour or so puzzling away together.

Whether you can laugh at each other for suggesting silly things, or you make a pact to beat the room no matter what before you go in, you can walk away afterwards feeling like you’ve spent some proper quality time with a friend.

On top of that, escape rooms don’t tend to take that much time to do. Like we said above, most of them are only around an hour long. So if you’d usually spend up to two hours or more having a girls’ lunch, you’ll be able to fit an escape room in no problem!

Have a Games Night

Despite what the name suggests, games nights can start in the afternoon and stretch all the way to the end of the night. And sometimes, that’s just the kind of window you need! After all, there are a million board games out there, as well as tabletop roleplaying games, and if either of you are ‘gamers’, you can fit a few video games into the session as well.

Games nights are hosted at home, meaning neither of you have to go really far, and you’ve got all the necessary amenities right there for you. No need to hop off the bus to find a toilet or sweat it out by hiking through a heatwave. You’re on the sofa, snacks in reach, and the furthest you have to go is to another room in the house!

Only getting to see your friends over lunch can get very boring! Make a change using the ideas above and try something new.
