Relax and unwind at The Spa at The Midland.
Last week, we took a trip to the award-winning The Spa at The Midland, based in Manchester City Centre’s grand Midland Hotel.
We were warmly welcomed by the spa’s friendly staff, plush surroundings, ambient lighting, and soothing music, and instantly felt our stresses drift away.
We changed and slipped on robes and slippers, and went to enjoy our lunch in the spa café; two protein platters, the perfect size. They consisted of small portions of soup, a sandwich, salad and cake. There are other platter options available, along with a range of sandwiches, and traditional afternoon tea.
Before treatment time, we enjoyed an hour in the spa facilities which include a heated relaxation pool, thermal suite with sauna and exceptional steam room (one of the best we’ve visited).
Then came the treatments, an Ocean Body Wrap and the spa’s signature Serene Sleep treatment.
Ocean Body Wrap
For anyone who’s missed out on a warm summer holiday or simply wants to rehydrate their skin after too much sun, the spa’s newest treatment ‘Ocean Body Wrap’ is the one to go for.
Aiming to deeply nourish the skin, this algae-infused wrap is ideal for detox and skin softening. This unique 55-minute treatment combines a full body exfoliation with an instantly effective, detox algae body wrap, followed by soothing scalp massage to completely relax the mind. Perfectly blended with essential oils to rejuvenate skin, the algae acts as a powerful skincare antioxidant all while delivering serious levels of hydration to restore brightness in dry skin.
In collaboration with renowned British spa brand ESPA, this mesmeric treatment unique to The Spa At The Midland is designed to lull you into a serene sleep. The beautifully simple yet effective treatment is the ultimate ‘unwind’, allowing your body time to relax and renew – an essential element to living well. Performed in luxuriously calming, candlelit surroundings, this tailor-made experience incorporates a personalised Aromatherapy Back Massage, Facial Massage and Scalp Massage. The treatment uses hot stones and warm essential oils, and the back massage focuses on the Marma points, releasing deep-seated muscular tension, clearing toxins and rebalancing the chakras.
A facial massage follows, using warm rose quartz crystals to diminish tension around the forehead, eye and jaw areas, before a deeply hydrating treatment mask containing a comforting blend of Lavender, Cedarwood and Ylang Ylang essential oils is applied to rejuvenate skin and spirits. A soothing scalp massage completes this indulgent and deeply relaxing experience, helping to clear the mind, relieve any final signs of stress and allow you to completely switch-off – ensuring an uninterrupted and blissful night’s sleep.
We visited the relaxation room afterwards, which is complete with hanging pod cocoons, private rooms and sleep chambers. It’s the perfect place to chill post treatment. We sipped herbal tea and fruit infused waters, and dozed here until we had to leave.
The perfect place to unwind and escape busy days, to-do lists and packed schedules.
