Mr Amit Kumar, founder of the Manchester Lumps Clinic, talks about the benefits of quick diagnosis and fast-track medical care. As a surgeon, I know first-hand how essential time is in both personal and working life. Therefore, it’s imperative that we diagnose and treat patients in a timely fashion to ensure the best clinical outcomes.
A surgeon’s perspective
The power of speed
Whether you have a lump of concern or joint pain, a fast diagnosis can be the difference between a quick recovery and a prolonged illness. We’re able to offer prompt investigations providing rapid results, in order to offer quick management solutions, whether that be a biopsy, surgery to remove the lump or treatment of your joint condition.
Our weekly rapid one-stop clinic enables you to be seen and have investigations on the same day, enabling us to offer treatment options.
Symptoms we assess in our lumps clinic
We can assess at any lump getting bigger, that is painful (but not always), bigger than a golf ball or perhaps not easy to feel. Other symptoms include aches and pains around the joints or limb, night pain, stiffness, swelling, and rarely, associated weight loss. Delayed diagnosis can have far-reaching consequences. If your lump is getting bigger, or you are increasingly having pain, it is important you have your symptoms assessed to avoid further complications.
Our hip and knee clinic
Advances in hip and knee surgery have dramatically improved outcomes, recovery times and overall patient satisfaction. We offer hip and knee surgery including cutting-edge robotic replacements.
Treatment times
We can offer options for treatment of your lump, swelling or joint problems. Investigations can be performed within 48 hours and surgery often within two to three weeks, depending on the condition.
