Following the successful completion of its 1,980 m2 walkthrough store in Manchester’s new Terminal 2 last year, Dufry and Manchester Airport Group (MAG) met on Wednesday to officially inaugurate the main duty free store.
The opening event was attended by Julian Diaz, CEO Dufry, and Fred Creighton, CEO World Duty Free UK & Germany. Representing MAG were Charlie Cornish, Group Chief Executive; Ken O’Toole, Chief Development Officer; Stephen Turner, Group Retail & Commercial Director and Karen Smart, Managing Director.

The store, which started trading in Q3 of 2021 as flights started to move over to the airport’s new Terminal 2 extension, is located in the international departures hall immediately after security and sits at the heart of the airport’s new state-of-the-art terminal space.
Incorporating the core product categories of beauty, liquor, luxury accessories, tobacco and confectionery, it also features a dedicated World of Whiskies area and has been well received by customers, delivering a good performance over the past months despite ongoing changes to travel restrictions.
Alongside the main duty free store World Duty Free also operates a further three stores in the Terminal 2 area; a 129 m2 Express store, a dedicated 231 m2 Beauty Collection store and a 230 m2 Collection store.
